The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in business grew sharply in 2024. Nearly 23% of companies implemented AI, up from 14% in previous years, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS).

AI in Floriculture

Flower grower Deliflor uses AI to predict chrysanthemum traits, improving durability and disease resistance. AI also automates quality checks, measuring growth and flower count faster than manual processes.

AI in Offices

Text analysis software is the most common AI tool, with usage 2.5 times higher than in 2023. "AI speeds up document searches, boosting productivity," says Casper Rutjes of ADC. However, he warns that AI-generated responses need verification.

AI in Customer Service

AI is increasingly used to transcribe and summarize customer calls. Insurer a.s.r. automates call summaries, giving employees more time for customer support.

Big Companies Lead AI Adoption

Larger companies adopt AI more frequently—60% of firms with 500+ employees use AI, compared to 18% of smaller businesses. "Small firms struggle with AI due to costs and expertise," says Rogier van Nieuwenhuizen of Rewire. He expects AI tools to become more accessible soon.

AI is transforming industries, from agriculture to corporate offices. As adoption grows, businesses of all sizes will benefit from AI-driven efficiency and automation.
